We started in 1996 and provide a range of services from labour-hire to group training, paying special attention to detail and getting the mix right through friendly discussion and analysis.

Bryce Simpson Managing Director

Bryce and his wife Debbie seized an opportunity to launch a recruiting business out of Stawell in 1996 and have since seen their venture blossom. From humble beginnings, SIMPSONS now have a staff of nine with offices in Horsham, Stawell and Ballarat and are statewide labour-hire specialists. Bryce enjoys helping firms find the right people for their workforce – to help fellow businesses or organisations develop and grow.

Ivan Jones Senior Consultant, Horsham

Ivans experience with a variety of people in a variety of roles has led to him being a key staff member at SIMPSONS.

He forged a long and busy 30-year career with VicRoads as regional administration manager in Horsham and spent his last five years with the organisation on a peer-elected Advisory Board. He travelled extensively in his role, meeting everyone from politicians to road-construction staff, experience he then brought to the labour-recruiting industry.

He identified labour-recruiting for various projects and businesses as a growth area and pursued the idea. He joined SIMPSONS six years ago and has ‘enjoyed it ever since’. He continues to enjoy mixing with diverse people with diverse interests.

Rod Sheppard Consultant, Stawell

Stawell-based consultant Rod Sheppard has constantly had to deal with managing people. His history of managerial positions in a variety of industries has provided him with an extensive background in human resources. He has, in his own words, been in charge of ‘everything from hiring, firing and selling’.

Rod shifted to Stawell for family reasons and stayed. He joined SIMPSONS about three years ago and has enjoys his role, describing the back-up from Bryce and Debbie Simpson as ‘fantastic’.

He enjoys dealing with different personalities and businesses and gains satisfaction in ‘putting the right people in the right jobs’. He also enjoys the lasting friendships forged from his working relationship with clients.

Greg Stewart Consultant, Ballarat

Understanding customer needs through personal experience has been a key for consultant Greg in helping SIMPSONS get established in Ballarat.

Greg spent nearly 20 years dealing with customers and contracts in the consumer-goods industry with Linfox in Ballarat. As former site manager in Ballarat he developed a close understanding of customer labour-hire needs, explaining that ‘I know what a customer wants, because I was once the customer’.

Greg joined SIMPSONS when the firm opened its Ballarat office in July last year and has been busy establishing networks and connections in a competitive environment. He has enjoyed the challenge of ‘starting something from scratch’.
